The obverse includes a relief of Mexico’s Coat of arms designed with an eagle eating a snake. This motif is surrounded by iterations of Mexico’s historical coats of arms. The reverse has the country’s famed Angel of Independence, which stands proudly in Mexico City, overlooking the rolling landscape of Mexico with the country’s two most famous volcanoes in the background: Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl. This side of the coin also includes the item’s weight, purity, date and metal content.
