The Perth Mint continues its stunning Lunar Series with this 2 oz Year of the Tiger silver coin, featuring the third of 12 animals on the Chinese lunar calendar.
First launched in 1996, the Lunar Series has grown to be one of the most highly sought-after coin series, with this 2022 edition prominently featuring an adult tiger with its cub. Above the pair is found the Chinese character for “tiger” as well as “TIGER” and “2022” while intricately carved rocks, ferns and bamboo complete the design.
Qualities of those born in the Year of the Tiger include bravery, determination, courage and confidence, making it a great gift for those newly born in 2022 as well as every twelve years prior to that: 1998, 1996, 1974, 1962, etc. Take special note of the Perth Mint’s standard “P” mintmark to the left of the adult tiger’s head.
The coin’s edge is reeded, while the obverse side includes Jody Clark’s highly detailed effigy of Her Royal Majesty Queen Elizabeth II along with the face value, country, weight, purity and Her Majesty’s name.
