The fourth coin in the Royal Canadian Mint’s Unexplained Phenomena series tells the story of a mysterious object lighting up the sky in downtown Montréal in November 1990. The large object hovered for hours above a 17-storey hotel, allowing dozens of viewers to capture photos, making it a well-documented and credible UFO sighting.
The reverse design was completed by Canadian artist Patrick Bélanger and features the artist’s interpretation of the UFO phenomenon. The object’s bright light beams on the coin can be illuminated with a black light flashlight that activates the black light paint embedded on the surface.
The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt with a curved line pattern in the background. The year, name and face value are included.
