1/10oz Gold Maple Leaf Coin – 2023 w/ Queen Reverse

The 1/10 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coin is one of the oldest in the series, having been available since its 1982 debut. It is also one of the most affordable versions of the coin and can be purchased online at Royal Bull.

Since the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coin was introduced in 1979, only one monarch has been featured on the obverse of the coins in this series – Queen Elizabeth II. However, with her passing in September 2022, the Queen will no longer feature on British or Commonwealth coinage. In anticipation of this event, the Royal Canadian Mint has introduced the 2023 Canadian Maple Leaf with Queen Elizabeth II’s effigy for one final time in limited quantities.

The 2023 1/10 oz Gold Maple Leaf Coin features the fourth-generation effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, which was created by Susanna Blunt in 2003 and is the first of her reign to lack a crown. On the reverse side of the coin is the design of the sugar maple leaf, which was created by Walter Ott in 1979 and has been a consistent feature on all coins in the series. The sugar maple leaf is the national emblem of Canada and is the most common of its species in North America.
